WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Since the Great Recession, our community and technical colleges weathered budget cuts from the state Legislature. As painful as it was, the colleges understood their role in helping balance the state budget. As always these colleges adjusted and adapted to changing economic and community needs.

After years of enduring shrinking budgets, community and technical colleges now face increasingly difficult decisions. Your assistance continues to be strong, but the support our students and colleges get from the Legislature is increasingly less certain.

Funding to Washington state community and technical colleges is still more than 5 percent less than before the recession. The same is strikingly true of our capital appropriations — down nearly 50 percent. Per student funding is down over 14 percent while tuition has increased over 40 percent.
